When cleaning is not enough

A damaged duct needs more than a clean-out.

Dryer ducting can rust, pull apart at the joints or come loose behind the appliance. Low runs can collect water. A damaged connection may let lint and exhaust escape along the run instead of carrying them outside.

Steve handles dryer duct repairs and replacement, as well as dryer vent cleaning. Describe the condition and location of the duct so he can discuss what your job needs.

  1. 1

    Describe what you can see.

Tell Steve about a loose connection, rust, damage or water, and where the dryer sits. You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself.

  2. 2

    Discuss repair or replacement.

The condition of the duct determines the work. Ask Steve about the proposed repair and price before work starts.

  3. 3

    Deal with the owner throughout.

Steve performs the ductwork himself. He does not hand the repair off to a subcontractor.

Dryer duct repair questions

Should I ask for cleaning or a repair?
Cleaning addresses lint buildup. Loose, rusted or separated ductwork may need a repair or replacement as well. Slow drying alone does not establish which service is needed; describe the symptoms and any visible damage to Steve.
Can you replace the exterior vent cap?
Yes. Steve installs a louvered cap at the outside dryer-vent outlet. See his dryer hood-cap service for the current on-the-job offer.
Do you repair furnace or air-conditioning ducts?
No. This service is for clothes-dryer exhaust ducts. Steve does not offer whole-house HVAC duct repairs, chimney work or appliance repairs.
Is a dryer repair the same as a dryer duct repair?
No. The duct carries exhaust from the dryer to the outside. Work on that venting is separate from repairing the machine's motor, heating element or controls. If you are unsure which problem you have, explain it when you call.
What does a repair cost?
The repair depends on the condition and layout of the duct. Contact Steve to discuss your job and the quote. The flat-fee cleaning service and its $10 offer should not be treated as a price for repair or replacement.
